Tim Akkouh was called to the Bar in 2004. He read law at the London School of Economics, where he was awarded a first class degree in 2001. He then completed his Masters' degree in Law at University College London, where he obtained distinctions in both the law of restitution and international trusts law. Tim has also taught trusts law on a part-time basis at the London School of Economics, and was awarded Denning and Hardwicke scholarships by Lincoln's Inn in 2003.

Tim has a broad-based commercial-chancery practice, with a particular emphasis on insolvency, trusts, land, commercial and company matters. He is gaining wide experience of court-based work and has been instructed by several high profile clients. Tim's reported cases include Gotham v Doodes [2007] 1 WLR 86 (CA).  

Tim’s recent insolvency experience includes appearing in applications for private examinations, re-direction of a bankrupt’s mail, postponement of discharge from bankruptcy, annulment of a bankruptcy, and for a bankruptcy restrictions order.  Tim also has recent experience of challenges to a trustee’s fees and challenges to the validity of IVAs. 

In relation to trusts and land, Tim has recently advised in a large international trust dispute, appeared in Beddoe applications, advised on adverse possession, handled several residential and commercial landlord and tenant matters, and has been involved with cases concerning the existence of resulting or constructive trusts. 

Tim is also currently involved in several pieces of commercial litigation, including an appeal against the taking of a partnership account, a forum non conveniens challenge, and an action against directors for breach of their common law duties.
