Emily Gillett

Emily Gillett was called to the Bar in 2005 and is a Megarry, Denning and Hardwicke scholar of Emily is acquiring a broad commercial and chancery practice. She frequently appears in county courts in a wide variety of matters including applications in contractual disputes, enforcement proceedings, and personal insolvency work. Most recently, she has successfully acted for a trustee in bankruptcy in respect of a contested transaction at undervalue application in relation to the bankrupt’s former matrimonial home. Emily also has a growing property practice, and is often instructed in possession claims of a varying nature, including those with a constructive trust and/or proprietary estoppel aspect. In the public law arena, Emily often appears on injunction applications for local authorities. Emily’s recent tax work includes acting as a junior in an appeal to the Special Commissioners and a professional negligence matter concerning tax advice. Out of court, Emily undertakes written advisory and drafting work, both contentious and non-contentious. Emily graduated from University College London with a first class degree in Law and French Law, having spent her third year of study at Université Paris II where she gained a Licence en droit (droit public).
