Leigh Sagar was called to the Bar in 1983.  His practice involves trusts and estate planning and litigation, including personal taxation.  His recent experience includes advising trustees in relation to divorcing spouses who were beneficiaries of the trust; advising a Guernsey trustee having difficulty with one of its trusts; advising a client in New York seeking relief in connection with a Bahamian trustee; advising beneficiaries of an estate being sued by an applicant under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975; and acting for a trustee against whom professional negligence is being alleged.  He has recently advised on the inheritance tax and capital gains tax consequences of variations of the disposition of estates; charges and loans connected with nil rate band trusts, including the consequences of the Phizackerly case; and drafting wills designed to mitigate taxation.
