The underlying claim is an amalgamation of claims against a British businessman for alleged breaches of commercial agreements. A number of such claims were assigned to an LLP incorporated as an SPV for the purposes of bringing such claims. The Defendant applied to strike out the claims for want of jurisdiction.

Caley appeared as junior Counsel for the Applicant, led by Nicholas Vineall QC. The application succeeded on 3 of the 4 claims brought by the Claimant. Caley obtained permission to appeal the decision to dismiss the application regarding the 4th claim, and is acting as sole Counsel in the Court of Appeal in June 2016.
