Winners of Stephen Lawrence Day Essay Competition Announced

23 Jul 2021

In April 2021, we launched an essay competition to further the message of Stephen Lawrence Day and the Stephen Lawrence Foundation, and to support access to the Bar for those from underrepresented backgrounds. The competition was open to 16-18 year olds attending a state or grammar school or college.

We were overwhelmed with the number and quality of the entries, and are delighted to announce the winners are:

  • In first place, Cameron Samuel-Keys, who is in Year 12 at Chiswick School;
  • In second place, Adam Craig, who is in Year 12 at East Barnet School; and
  • In third place, Hamnah Riaz, who is in Year 12 at the Heathland School.

All of our winners will receive prizes, including work experience, mentoring and a legal book voucher.

Cameron’s winning entry, on the topic “Is the law the best way to achieve positive social change”, can be read here.
